spin, HIIT, TRX
My fitness background extends beyond a hobby. I earned a BS degree in Physical Education & Athletic Training and went on to have a 30+ year career in corporate fitness & wellness management. A lifelong lover of all things fitness, recreation and anything that would challenge me physically, I played D2 collegiate basketball and soccer as well as competed in track & field. My natural passion and need to connect with like-minded people lead me to coach youth sports, adult triathlon and swimming. I have always been an eager learner; thirsty for a deeper understanding of the human body and how it works. My classes are a great fit for any level as long as you come with a desire to change, improve and learn. Sweat is a by-product of your effort with my guidance. Its a partnership, goals are achievable if you believe in yourself.
Fitness is a journey best taken with company.
I have been exploring the magic of movement through sports, dance, outdoor recreation and yoga since 1986. I became a certified yoga and spin instructor in pursuit of a deeper understanding and relationship with my mind, body, and soul. My personal practice explores the duality and balance of fun and functionality in all modes of fitness. I strive to inspire my students with the freedom of exploration, guided by foundational principles and alignment to find a balance between functional fitness and playful movement. My classes draw on creativity and experimentation with music, motivation, and movement.
I began my journey as a fitness instructor at the University of South Carolina in 2003 where I received a B.S. in Fashion Merchandising. It was an easy transition from competitive cheerleader to group exercise instructor first learning to lead spin, kickboxing, group weight training, and then Pilates.
Off the mat, my hobbies include Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), Hydro-biking and driving a jet boat on Lake Keowee, and competitive motorcycle drag racing.
I like to consider myself a wellness ambassador in the community and I enjoy encouraging those of all fitness levels and with differing wellness goals. As a full-time REALTOR, often times I am able to welcome my real estate clients to the area first with a new home and then a new wellness journey, both of which are extremely rewarding!
I have been involved in personal fitness for over twenty-five years now and as an avid mountain biker and competitive sailor I have found functional training to be ideal in my efforts to increase my own strength and endurance; so much so, I decided to become qualified as a TRX Instructor.
Developed by a Navy SEAL asa way for his men to easily take their training regimen with them no matter where they might find themselves, the beauty of the TRX system is in its simplicity. The scalability of TRX lends itself to adapt to all levels of fitness from beginners to elite level athletes. There truly is no limit to what you can achieve with the TRX system. I love pushing myself beyond my perceived limits and helping other reach their individual goals. Is TRX training easy? No, of course not, but it is worth the effort. There is a saying in the SEALs “The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday!”
total conditioning, HIIT, TRX I am passionate about health and wellness. Every since I was a little girl, I loved being active, playing sports, or just being outdoors. Not only did I love these things, I was forced to see several of my family members suffer from several Chronic Diseases growing up. Because of this, I chose to get my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science with a concentration of health and nutrition from Winthrop University to better understanding what it takes to be “healthy”.
As many of us know, exercise plays such an important role in our health so I make sure that when I teach a group fitness class, I’m helping each individual understand the importance of each prescribed piece. I believe that helping others understand the power of their choices will enable them to live their best life.
spin My experience in the fitness industry spans more than 20 years and includes a wide array of group fitness class formats. I started teaching spin 10 years ago and it quickly became a favorite. I love the fact that it requires me to be part fitness coach, choreographer and DJ.
My goal for each class is to meet you right where you are and motivate you to do your very best and make it so much fun that you forget you are exercising.
boot camp, total conditioning I grew up in Seneca, SC where I attended Seneca High School. As a youth, I played every sport under the sun. In high school I narrowed my focus to track & field and football.
As I developed as an athlete and continued to compete, I realized that I never made a consious decision to choose this lifestyle, it chose me. Regardless…I am all in!
total conditioning, HIIT, TRX I am an ACE certified personal trainer. Fitness has always been a part of my life. I grew up in a health conscious home where I was encouraged to stay active. I played soccer, I was a catcher in softball, and I ran cross country. As an adult I have continued being active and enjoy running races, hiking, lifting weights, and instructing fitness classes. I have a Bachelors and Masters in Science, and during the day I’m a Research Specialist in the Animal and Veterinary Sciences department at Clemson University (Go Tigers!).
In 2018, I decided it was time to share my passion for health and wellness with others and completed my American Council on Exercise certification. At the beginning of this year I created FIT by SK (@fitbysk), a health and wellness page that I use as a platform to share meal prep ideas, workouts, fitness tips, and my personal training services.
total conditioning, HIIT, TRX I am Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor with a PhD in Educational Leadership from Clemson University. I graduated from a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher program with Lillah Swartz in Asheville, North Carolina. I love to play outdoors and actively participate in a variety of adventure sports.
As a wife and mother working full-time and volunteering in the community, I realize the importance of fitting fitness in whenever you can. Often we only have 30 to 60 minutes available to squeeze a workout in and the gym is the ideal environment for getting this accomplished.
I strive to get the most effective workout in the least amount of time so I feel strong and healthy and I can build a solid foundation to participate in more challenging activities when I have the time and energy available. I do this by balancing cardio, strength and flexibility exercises in all of my workouts. This exercise philosophy coupled with healthy lifestyle choices helps me bring fitness and balance to people with busy lives.
